• What is this about? RCSI has agreements with several publishers that will waive the publishing fee for open access journals.

  • How do I know if I’m eligible? To avail of this you must be a member of staff, student or trainee. You need a functioning RCSI login, for instance – being able to access library subscription content at https://libguides.rcsi.ie/az.php

  • How do I let the journal know I am RCSI affiliated? The corresponding author should ensure their paper has recorded their affiliation with RCSI and use their RCSI email address, this will allow publishers to pick up on eligibility. Publishers will then contact RCSI directly to confirm.

  • Is there a limit to using this pathway for publishing? Yes, There are an annual number of quotas which reset every calendar year, the quota will be used up on a first-come, first-served basis for accepted articles therefore availability is highest at the start of the year.

  • If a journal accepts my paper but its quota is full for this year, can I wait until the quota resets for next year? No, unfortunately articles can only be paid for from the quota in the calendar year in which they were accepted
