Welcome to ISTG
The Irish Surgical Training Group (ISTG) is the representative body for surgical trainees in Ireland and acts to:
- - Represent all Core and Higher surgical trainees
- - Remain independently run by trainees, for trainees
- - Advocate for surgical trainees with professional bodies such as RCSI, ISCP, JCST, NTDP
- - Promote the highest standards of surgical training
- - Foster cross specialty collaboration
- - Provide mentorship and leadership for surgical trainees
ISTG annual events include:
- - Careers day for aspiring surgeons including the aspiring surgeon research symposium each November
- - Annual trainee forum - ISTG session at Charter day in February
- - Silver Scalpel awards ceremony and dinner for the trainee' nominated best surgical trainer
