ISTG Careers Day and Aspiring Surgeons Research Symposium took place on November 9th 2024 in a packed College Hall at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. The wide variety of talks from the Training Programme Directors touched on all subspecialities and aspects of surgical training in Ireland. The ISTG committee would like to give a huge thanks to everyone that took part, including all the medical students and junior NCHDs that submitted abstracts, and presented an excellent, diverse range of posters and talks. We would also like to thank the surgical training faculty members and RCSI staff that took time out of their weekends to speak to and support our surgeons of the future.
Congratulations to Taya Keating, winner of the oral prize, for her study “Using a modified Delphi process to explore international surgeons reported benefits of robot assisted surgery for abdominal rectopexy” and Michaela Corvi, winner of the poster prize, for her systematic review and meta-analysis “One year follow up is sufficient time for patient reported outcomes following rotator cuff repair”.
